The great divide

One of the most obvious things is the growing divide between the haves and have nots  in India.  For the English media and many of the websites , a  very large portion of the country does not even exist. When  I see statements  like ” everyone has a broadband connection and a laptop” , they should say that  all their friends  have one ,  the per capita income of the country is less than $1000 per year .  A person who can barely afford to buy food (and more than 30% of the population falls into this category)  can only dream of owning a computer.   The rich and the upper middle class are totally blind to this section of the society.
